All Stays, All Goes

4-7-24

On a short rope, in a tight space, hidden, all in plain view
I’m fighting the things, round by round, stuff I indelibly knew
Puzzled by sleight of hand, a king, a queen, became a three
The trick here is to pretend absence, nobody could possibly see

The heat out here pulls me in, it speaks with harmless thought
Talks about fall and winter, and the things that can’t be bought
Prepared for the arrival, the sun stands, a message to send
A welcomed appearance, once a beginning now is it an end?

Gone from here, left, vanished, a blink of an eye being too slow
Is everything, entirely, pain and all, things no know should know
And grasping, yes reaching, when you know, positively, it’s gone
Damn my existence, damn my fight, I have an ace, only just one

An end of a road, I’d say just three, maybe four, nervously laugh
Then it all breaks loose, a moment in time, I’m sure I had a half
Lights came then vanished, too distant to tell, gone all fear
I’ve had many, too many to worry, again time for our beer

Within moments, in abundance, and frothing from its mouth
The places and times, visions, barren, as a southern drouth
I’m lost in a room with no mirrors and no window, I know why
Un-announced yet accepted, familiar touch, then alone, last try

Driving to distract, familiarity leaves in a hurry, what’s to see?
Running the clock is an empty dream, whatever will be will be
Indeed, it has, written ages ago but now lost, probably best
I’d take all, move them out, sell to make a buck then finally rest

The summation, being of sound mind, is symptoms and cause
Do you really want to know those realities, do you play the odds
An album, chosen, I heard it from a friend, he’s a traveler if so
Moving town to county is not too bad, a look left, an overflow

Now the right is wrong, seven-twenty is right, I turn to another
And wonder if my best is best, things keeping under cover
Stonehenge, The Wall, pyramids, those will stand for all my time
Those who can’t imagine, won’t ask, long lost in my mind
