Filling a Void Once

11-11-22

Do you remember once in time
You pushed me off a nursery rhyme?
Nobody was hurt, you said
I remember the pain was all mine

Whispering to me a child’s song
I didn’t fit in, not where I belong
In a quarters time you agreed
Got a “D” for a grade, I was wrong

Understand, no shoes to be filled
People and places, a moment was killed
Like a sacrificial lamb, I was led
The darkest of times, we were thrilled

But an empty room, with quiet chairs
Covers a hallway with hidden stairs
A secret place and locks to impede
Now all I feel are those constant stares
